Pori offers education to students of all ages

The City of Pori provides individuals with the opportunity to engage in study from the kindergarten to doctorate level. Pori's junior high and high schools offer an extensive menu of opportunities conducive to attaining a culturally broadening education that is conformant to the student's own skills and interests.

Professional education is offered by all of the following: WinNova (various fields of study, including technology, tourism, forestry etc.) and Palmgren Conservatory, a general music college for students of all ages. The Pori School of Art facilitates the education of pictorial art to children and youngsters, the teaching of art to adults, and even allows for the professional preparation of the pictorial artist and the movie editor. The Finnish Aviation Academy, which organises national courses for professional pilots, is also situated in Pori.

Higher education is facilitated by the regional Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, which offers a wide range of professional education opportunities through the Pori branch of the Diaconia Institute of Higher Education and through the Pori University Consortium. The University Consortium  is comprised of the branch departments of Tampere University of Technology, Turku School of Economics, The University of Turku - School of Humanities, the University of Art and Design, as well as the University of Tampere. All of the preceding institutions own university status. In addition to the previously mentioned institutions, advanced research opportunities are also available through two branch departments of the University of Turku: the Satakunta Environmental Research Center and the Research Center for Maritime Studies.

Advanced research opportunities are also available through the Satakunta Social Services Research and Development Center, part of the University of Tampere's Pori branch.

Other significant educational centers include the Community College, the Otsola Community College, the Rudolf Steiner School, the Pori Christian School, the Pori Swedish School, the Vocational Adult Education Center, the Satakunta Apprenticeship Center, and the Summer University of Western Finland.
