Renovation centre Toivo and the Korsman´s house are situated in a plot of wooden houses in the V district of Pori. The buildings on the plot came to the possession of Satakunta Museum in 1991. There are three residential buildings made of timber on the plot and an outbuilding; there were built between the early 19th century and year 1907. In 1995, two of the buildings started to serve as the Renovation Centre Toivo, and in the beginning of 1999 cultural heritage instruction for children and youth was started in the third building, the Korsman’s house. In 1999, the work to erect a new building, the Piharivi, on the site was started; this building had originally located a few blocks from Toivo, but it had been demolished in 1977. The renovation of the Piharivi to a building heritage site had begun. |
