Indie film veteran Sean Baker is involved in the film’s production. The film’s young lead, Nina Ye, delivers an exceptional performance.
28.10. ERASERHEAD

This classic screening is presented by the Pori University Center.
No one has portrayed the fear of growing older as chillingly as David Lynch. Eraserhead is a black-and-white nightmare world where industrial bleakness, bizarre humor, and inexplicable anxiety go hand in hand.
This horror film rose to cult status immediately upon its release.
4.11. FATHER’S DAY

Directed by Aleksi Salmenperä
A pair of twin girls decide to find out who their father really is. Not even their mother can give them a definite answer. Their search leads the girls to meet Timo, who is recovering from a stroke, and his caregiver, Veiko.
This heartwarming film blends humor and melancholy in a way that turns family relationships upside down, shows how life is full of surprises, and reveals that not everything goes according to plan.
11.11. THE VOICE OF HIND RAJAB

In the midst of the Gaza conflict, a local emergency hotline receives a call from six-year-old Hind Rajab. A frantic rescue operation begins, and the organization’s staff does everything in their power to get the girl to safety.
This heart-wrenching film uses actual recordings of emergency calls in a documentarian style, bringing the humanitarian crisis shockingly close to the viewer.

John, who lives with Tourette syndrome, has his life transformed in 1980s Scotland when, with the encouragement of a friend’s mother, he finds his own voice. He begins to help others understand the syndrome better.
Based on a true story, this film is a heartfelt coming-of-age story that shows even the darker sides of life—and finds humor in them as well.
25.11. FATHER MOTHER SISTER BROTHER

2.12. PRIMAVERA

Set in 18th-century Venice, this film tells the story of an all-girl orchestra at an orphanage taught by the master Vivaldi. With Vivaldi’s help, the orchestra’s first violinist discovers the joy of music and art. Soon, the young woman must make a decision about her own future.
The director, known for his opera productions, makes his feature film debut with this visually stunning work that brings historic Italy to life.
