Pay What You Want Day offers festive activities

The final Pay What You Want Day of the year will be held on Wednesday, 10 December. The programme includes Christmassy and winter-themed activities such as crafting Christmas decorations from recycled materials, exploring the Elves exhibition, and taking a dip in the cold water at the outdoor swimming pool.

The Christmas Creations from Recycled Paper workshop will take place at the Kruunupää Children’s Cultural Centre. The workshop is suitable for children aged 3 and up, and under-10s should be accompanied by an adult. Visitors can drop in between 12.00 and 14.00. All city museums are also taking part on the cultural side.

– The Elves exhibition has once again taken over the Satakunta Museum, so it’s well worth heading there to soak up the Christmas atmosphere. The exhibition is popular and many groups visit in the morning, so it’s best to plan your visit after 14.00. You’ll also find newly opened exhibitions at the Pori Art Museum and the Rosenlew Museum, says Head of Cultural Unit Jyri Träskelin.

The Pori Art Museum is offering a guided tour in clear and accessible Finnish at 16.30. Among other things, the Sugar Doors exhibition is on display.

Among the sports facilities participating are the outdoor winter swimming pool, swimming halls and Urheilutalo and Karhuhalli sports halls.

– Swimming is great fun whatever the weather, but you should definitely try out winter swimming at the outdoor pool if you haven’t already, encourages Head of Sports Unit Petteri Lahti.
